GOOGLE.COM

Google search lists directories with files matching your search. Google is plagued by spam sites. Even some sites that appear to be directories are spam, sites designed specifically to get you to click on ads and containing no real content. Real directories will display only a basic list of files and no ads. If you see ads then the site is not a directory.
When you have found a file you wish to download, right-click the file name and choose to save the link or target file. And, of course, note where on your computer the file is downloaded to (usually desktop or My Documents).

PLAYLIST.COM

Playlist is one of the easiest and most reliable sources for mp3 files. Like Google, much of its listings come from parent directory listings. Note the file name then click the link. Search the directory for the file name. To download, right-click the file name and select save the link or target file (the exact working of this command will vary with the browser you use).

ESNIPS.COM

Esnips has an vast music list. However, downloading can be tricky. The easiest way to download mp3 from esnip.com is with Internet Download Manager. IDM is used to accelerate internet activity by managing downloads automatically. For our purposes IDM can be set to capture the mp3 file automatically and download it to a set directory. Before installing close all browser windows (if you miss this step IDM may not integrate properly with your browser). After installing IDM click Options and add "MP3" to the list of File Types if it is not already there. Also check the Save to directory and adjust if you wish. Now search esnips for the mp3. As soon as you view the page containing the mp3 file (or any other site containing a music file) IDM will download the file to the set folder. Easy!

IMEEM.COM

Imeem is the most difficult to retrieve mp3 files from but this site does have many hard to find songs so it may be worth the trouble for you. You will need to use a free online service called File2HD.com in order to locate and download the music file and then use conversion software to change the file from flv file extension to mp3 format. First locate the page you wish to download music from and copy the url (address). Open File2HD.com and paste the address into the provided URL box. Check the "I have read and agree to the Terms of Service" box and click Get Files. The bottom of the page will list any files found. Right click the listed file and choose to download or save the link or source. The download may take several seconds to more than a minute. You will need a software for converting the file to mp3. There are 3 I have tested and am satisfied that they contain no malware. The simplest, FLV2MP3 is provided by File2HD.com. Another good tool is Free Video to MP3 Converter. If these do not work on your computer you may also try WM Converter which is quite capable but the interface requires some getting used to. Whichever one you use the operation is much the same - select the file to convert and the program will create an mp3 from the flv file.

MYSPACE

Although Poodwaddle Music Search does not include it, you can also download music from MySpace and other such sites that host and share music. For MySpace follow these instructions: Search for music at Music.MySpace.com. Copy the url of any page containing music you want. Open File2HD.com and paste the url into the provided field. Check that you agree to their terms and click Get Files. The resulting list of files will appear below. Right click on any file you want to download and choose to download or save the link or destination file.
